Better late than never
I have always been interested in new things and quick to accept new technology as part of my daily life. Through the years though, I started slowing down a bit. Take note, sit back and see what becomes of it, and then decide. The pace of things has picked up dramatically since the dawn of the internet and the principle of “more garbage can be delivered on your doorstep much faster now” is also true. Living in South Africa has great advantages, one of them is the fact that we’re always just one step behind the rest of the “developed” world. Concerning the internet, it has the advantage that we can see a sink hole and side step it. On the other hand, people tend to over compensate for that and some of the best innovations come from here too.
The web 2.0 generation of services is taking shape now and the first “fakes” are being exposed. There’s no written rules but if you take advantage of people they smell you out.
Hopefully in twenty years from now, we will have web x.x services all managed by reputable entities running our daily lives.
My journey into web 2.0 will be to discover what is out there and what difference any service will make to my life (if any). Being on the other side of the globe as where most of these things come from, will definitely play a role.
Buckle up and let’s go!
